Reporting to the Customer Insight Director, we are looking for a Head of Customer Data to join the Customer Insight team. Overseeing data governance, architecture and the provision of targeted data selections, the Head of Data is responsible for ensuring that data is being fully maximised in its use to across the business, whilstalso ensuring Gymshark’s data is secure and that we are compliantin how it is being used. The data team are critical in ensuring Gymshark’s data foundations enable the execution of world leading analytics and the generation of valuable insight. The Head of Data must ensure that the data we collect/process is available, usable, accurate, GDPR compliant and secure, whilst also working with the Head of Customer Analytics to identify and incorporate additional sources that can add further value. This role will oversee the creation and maintenance of a single data source, enabling the creation of a single customer view to maximise value from data.

What you'll be doing...
  • Build and lead a new data team which can ensure customer data is accurate, usable and accessible for the CI team and wider business, continuously enabling world class analytics

  • Lead the design and implementation of a data warehouse which can become the true mater data source for Gymshark

  • Implement data cleaning & ETL activities to improve data qualityand create a ‘single customer view’, therefore reducing data preparation time for analysis/reporting and improving the accuracy of insights generated

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of business strategy & direction, ensuring that this shapes all data solutions

  • Oversee the provision of accurate and relevant data selections for specific, targeted activities and communications across the business

  • Ensure Gymshark’s storage and use of data (across all channels) is compliant to GDPR standards as well as local legislation

  • Define data architecture strategies and approaches to advance data initiatives and improve value generated from data

  • Enrich existing data sets with internal or external data, enabling the insight team to answer wider business questions and solve more complex problems

What you’ll need…

  • Ability to inspire and lead a team, with previous management experience in a related role

  • Outstanding technical ability within data management, governance and quality, but also has a strategic grasp of the‘big picture’

  • Significant experience of managing and working with large and complex data environments

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues, translating complex concepts into simple terms where required

  • Strong technical skills in data warehousing tools and technologies (i.e. Amazon Redshift, SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop) with relevant programming language skills (i.e. SQL, Python, JSON)

  • Experience of leading data warehouse implementation & maintenance projects

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor others

  • The ability to thrive in a risk-taking, fast paced environment
